Colorful Cloth Sandals (Nuno Zouri)
Nuno zouri (cloth sandals) are handcrafted one by one with care, following a traditional Japanese method. They are made from recycled materials like old fabric or T-shirts, and each pair has its own unique texture and color. Because they are handmade, they are soft, comfortable, and gentle on the feet. These sandals are also eco-friendly, making them an attractive choice for those who value sustainability.

Celebration Cranes
“Iwai-zuru” are traditional origami cranes used for celebrations in Japan. Since cranes symbolize longevity and good fortune, they are often displayed or given as gifts during festive occasions. They are commonly used for decorations at events like weddings, baby showers, housewarming parties, and other life milestones. The act of folding the cranes itself carries a wish for the recipient’s happiness and health, making them a cherished gift.
Iwai-zuru are made from paper or fabric and often come in vibrant colors or luxurious designs, adding a festive touch to the celebration.

Japanese Traditional Kimonos and Obi
We sell traditional kimonos and obi (sashes). Our collection includes a variety of designs and materials, suitable for special events or everyday wear. We are happy to help you choose the perfect kimono and obi, so please feel free to ask for assistance.

Japanese calligraphy
In the calligraphy experience, you can learn the basics of traditional Japanese calligraphy and try writing characters yourself. Using a brush and ink, you can calm your mind and focus on each stroke, enhancing your concentration and creativity. It’s a valuable opportunity to experience the depth of calligraphy while immersing yourself in Japanese culture. Beginners are welcome, and English support is available, making it a popular activity for international visitors.

“Dagashiya”
Japanese traditional sweets culture
A “dagashiya” is a traditional Japanese shop that sells affordable snacks and small toys, primarily for children. These shops have been popular since the Showa era (1926-1989), offering inexpensive treats like chocolate, candy, and ramune soda. Children can enjoy shopping here with just a little pocket money, while adults often visit to relive their childhood memories. Besides snacks, dagashiya also offer small toys and simple games, making them a fun gathering spot for local kids and families.
We sincerely look forward to welcoming everyone.
Organizer: Omotenashi Muroran.
